Get To Know Carlsbad

The City of Carlsbad can be rather neatly divided into four quadrants – each with its own lifestyle, community flavor, and feel. The boundary lines dividing the four quadrants are Palomar Airport Road (Separating North & South Carlsbad) and El Camino Real (Separating East & West).

Northwest

Old Carlsbad (92008)

The Northwest quadrant of Carlsbad (ZIP code 92008) includes the downtown “Village” area, the Barrio and what is known as “Old Carlsbad.” It was the first part of Carlsbad to be settled – and is often seen as the “most walkable” of Carlsbad’s communities.
Southwest

Aviara & Surrounding (92011)

The Southwest quadrant (ZIP code 92011) extends along the Pacific Ocean to the south of the center of Carlsbad. It includes the Aviara resort neighborhoods and surrounding areas including the homes and Planned Unit Developments to the west of Interstate 5.
Northeast

Calavera & Chestnut Hills (92010)

The Northeast quadrant (ZIP code 92010) consists primarily of single-family homes, with larger lots found in the older area known as Chestnut Hills. Newer developments continue in this quadrant at Calavera Hills and Robertson Ranch. The newly opened Sage Creek High School, Lake Calavera, and Calavera Community Park are located in this quadrant.
Southeast

La Costa, Bressi, Carillo (92009)

The Southeast quadrant is the most recently developed in Carlsbad (ZIP code 92009), and contains the largest number of dwelling units of the four. It encompasses many newer “master planned communities” including La Costa Valley, La Costa Oaks, Bressi Ranch, Rancho Carillo, as well as many Custom Homes along the often steep hillsides.
